The Audit Commision is an independent body in
the UK established by the Local Government
Finance Act 1982. It administers the District
Audit Service and appoints auditors for the
accounts of all UK local authorities. The
Audit Commission consists of 15 members, it's
aims include finding ways of saving costs,
and controlling illegal local-authority
spending.
